General Privacy Statement
We are aware that you have shown significant
faith in Freedom Federal Credit Union by entrusting us with
sensitive information regarding one of your most personal
resources … your finances. As our relationship evolves, rest
assured that no matter the technology used for member interaction,
our respect for your privacy will not diminish.
Site Access
Any person using the Internet may access the
Freedom Federal Credit Union Web site (the “Site”). Our
Site enables the individual user to learn about our many
member benefits. However, access to the members-only areas
and individual account areas require passwords.
Security
Although FreeNet 24 member account access is
facilitated via the public Internet, unauthorized access
is next to impossible. With our secure socket layer security
technology (utilizing a minimum of 40-bit, and up to 128-bit,
encryption) and firewall protection, you will be able to
perform secure transactions without fear that an unauthorized
party will gain access to your accounts. We do not permit
the installation of password “cookies” in case your computer
is lost or stolen. You will be required to enter your password
every time you login to the FreeNet 24 system. Should an
unauthorized user attempt to access your account, only three
attempts at determining your password are allowed before
the user is locked out of the system. Should this happen
to you, please call FreeNet 24 MemberCare at 252-442-8888.
You will be asked to provide account-specific information.
Once that information is verified, you will regain access
to your account.
Site Content
General financial data and suggestions (that
which is supplied outside of the FreeNet 24 service) are
provided for informational purposes only … and as a courtesy
to our members and visitors. Should you decide to take direct
action based on general financial content provided on this
Site, please be aware that you do so at your own risk. Every
Site user has a different financial situation.
What applies ideally to one member may have adverse
consequences for another.
Use of Cookies
Cookies were originally designed to help a Web
site identify a previous visitor and thus save and remember
any preferences that may have been set while the user was
browsing the site. A cookie is a small string of text that
a Web site can send to your browser. A Web site sometimes
uses a cookie to enhance the user's visit by storing information
to avoid the need to repeatedly enter the same information
during each different visit to the site. In general, cookies
can securely store a user ID and password, personalize home
pages, identify which parts of a site have been visited or
keep track of selections in a "shopping cart." If you are
just browsing our Site, a cookie identifies only your browser.
However, if you become a registered FreeNet 24 user on the
Site … with a designated user ID and password (Registered
Users) … and will be accessing your confidential account
information, you must accept certain cookies. They
are essential for site administration and security. While
we will store on your computer a cookie that records your
member preferences so that we can provide personalized information
that we believe will be of value to you, we DO NOT permit
a cookie to be placed on your computer to store your user
ID and password.
Set Email Preferences
In order to notify our Registered Users of extra
benefits provided as FreeNet 24 member / users, we will send
occasional email informing you of these special offers. Should
you wish to be removed from this list, simply send us an
email
indicating that you do not wish to receive further
email.
Site Navigation Statistics/Information Use
We will not provide your specific personal information
to any outside marketing organization without your consent. We
may, however, track and leverage general and aggregate member
data in order to secure superior vendor partnerships to the
benefit of all members. As your credit union, our goal
is to provide you with exceptional member satisfaction. With
this in mind, we also track general information on Web site
use and Site traffic in order to improve Site navigation
and efficiency. Because Internet-collected data is
considered more accurate than that collected using other
methods, we can use such information to create more and better
partnership opportunities for our members. Therefore,
by using our Internet-based financial services, our members
may have the opportunity to
share in additional benefits not offered to our
traditional credit union members.
Loan Application Information Gathering
Should you choose to apply for a Freedom loan
on-line, be aware that we will treat that application as
we do an application submitted via more traditional methods. We
will follow all policies and procedures established for loan
application review including, but not limited to, credit
checks, employment verifications, income verifications, etc.
Meeting Your Needs
As technology evolves, we will continue to look
for better ways to gather and use information in order to
offer financial products and services that best meet your
financial needs … and to safeguard information about you
and your accounts. We encourage you to review this Internet
Privacy Statement periodically for updates.
